Summer Doctoral School in CEZAMAT

On September 12-16, 2022 at the Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies CEZAMAT of the Warsaw University of Technology, the Summer Doctoral School was held as part of the NAWA-STER project “Smart Education for Engineering Doctors”.

The Summer Doctoral School is a new form of education for participants of doctoral schools from the Warsaw University of Technology and other universities from the European Union and Eastern Europe. The aim of the School was to expand the educational offer for doctoral students in the fields of the Warsaw University of Technology specializing, and to establish international contacts, improve the quality of education and increase the international mobility of doctoral students.

During the event, participants had a choice of two programs related to their scientific fields. The first program included lectures and exercises in the field of photonics and printed electronics, and the second in the field of bioengineering.


– The opportunity to be together on a scientific platform with doctoral students working in different branches of biotechnology was an invaluable experience for me. Being in Warsaw because of my doctoral education and academic career was a good experience for me, but it was also special because it was my first overseas trip to Europe. I spent 5 days meeting and exchanging ideas with experts and talented scientists in their fields – said Seda Keskin, Medical Faculty, Van Yüzüncü Yıl University.

In the program of the Summer Doctoral School, the classes were conducted by over 30 lecturers from the Warsaw University of Technology, and the participants, apart from theoretical classes, could see the work in the CEZAMAT laboratory. As part of the School, there was also a tour of Warsaw with the legendary Jelcz bus.

– In addition, different plenary sessions were held by the participants allowing them to share their research work.
It has been an excellent opportunity to share my interests, learn and get in touch with young researchers. This occasion allow me to grow professionally and I am glad I participated – said Luca Potenza, Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw.
