On June 12, 2023, the Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies CEZAMAT of the Warsaw University of Technology hosted a meeting on the development of the Polish photonics industry as part of Horizon Europe.

Possibilities, opportunities and needs of the Polish photonics sector in the perspective of the competitions of the Horizon Europe program for 2023-2024 are the main topics of the discussion panel, which was the first part of the “Photonic Storm”. The discussion panel was attended by dr Anna Kamińska, dr hab. eng. Ryszard Piramidowicz (Prof. WUT), Piotr Warzybok, dr eng. Piotr Guzdek, Karol Maryniowski, dr Paweł Kluczynski and Maciej J. Nowakowski.

During the workshops, which took place in the second part of the meeting, preliminary proposals for competitions for 2025 were presented and topics of strategic importance for the development of the Polish photonics industry were developed for the coming years.

The organizers of the event were the Contact Point Industry 4.0, the Polish Technological Platform of Photonics – PPTF and the Cluster of Microelectronics, Electronics and Photonics, whose leader is the Warsaw University of Technology.
